This 2018 Vietti Barolo Castiglione is Vietti's vision of a Barolo Classico in the sense that the grapes for this wine are sourced from their various vineyards across the region. The age of the vines is between 10 and 45 years old. It has a youthful, ruby color and very pretty, sweet red fruits and crushed strawberry on the nose, The style is firm with crunchy, bright, savory tannins integrated into the body of the wine and encased with attractive ripe strawberry fruit. There is perhaps some greenness and the fruit falls away slightly on the finish, but it has loads of charm and substance. Wait 1-2 years and drink for 15 years plus

The 2018 Barolo Castiglione is bright, fresh and delineated. Crushed red berry fruit, white pepper, chalk, mint and rose petal all run through this gorgeous, sculpted Barolo. The purity of the fruit and overall energy here are captivating. I would cellar the 2018 for at least a few years. It's a gorgeous wine in the making.
